having multiple DBIDs with dates before the installation date

Recommended Posts

We noticed that our EBS have Multiple DBIDs with dates before the installation date. This is in dba_feature_usage_statistics. however the DB has only 1 instance active. Why would the DB have multiple DBID's?

Hi Barbara, and welcome to the forum!

The “real” DBID is always here, and there is always a single value:

select dbid from v$database;

Did you ever run the DBNEWID utility, of clone the database?

That can cause multiple DBID values, and these can be recorded as different in DBA_FEATURE_USAGE_STATISTICS.

Multiple DBID values commonly appear in historical AWR tables.

Periodic cloning (reorganization) can also explain the dates that precede the current database create date.

Try this query:

http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_tips_license_compliance.htm

Please advise.  Thanks.

Thank you for the feedback.

select dbid from v$database (give one DBID) however when you run

SELECT DISTINCT DBID   , NAME,  detected_usages, first_usage_date, LAST_USAGE_DATE,   LAST_SAMPLE_DATE
                  FROM  dba_feature_usage_statistics

the results brings multiple DBIDs that precede the current oracle installation and database create date.

Hi Barbara,

Yes, we expect multiple DBID values here!

This is a history view, and as such, you will see the DBID change each time the database is cloned.
