Creation of Oracleasm Disk - Clarification

Recommended Posts

Hi Team,

we got following details from our system team as follows.

Lun details are attached. physical volume names are as follows :

stfnniodbs01 :

/dev/mpath/mpath0

/dev/mpath/mpath10

/dev/mpath/mpath13

/dev/mpath/mpath6

/dev/mpath/mpath7

/dev/mpath/mpath8

/dev/mpath/mpath9

/dev/sda2

stfnniodbs02 :

/dev/mpath/mpath1

/dev/mpath/mpath10

/dev/mpath/mpath11

/dev/mpath/mpath12

/dev/mpath/mpath7

/dev/mpath/mpath8

/dev/mpath/mpath9

/dev/sda2

Hence now from root user we have to proceed following command for to create oracle asm  disk as follows.

oracleasm createdisk DISK07  /dev/sda2   ==> which will create asm supported disk isn't it.after scanning the disk

Then from sqlplus hope we may need to execute the following command.

CREATE DISKGROUP ARCHIVELOG EXTERNAL REDUNDANCY
DISK '/dev/oracleasm/disks/DISK07',ATTRIBUTE 'au_size'='1M',
'compatible.asm' = '11.2.0.2.0',
'compatible.rdbms' = '11.2.0.2.0',
'compatible.advm' = '11.2.0.2.0';

Please validate above steps are correct ?? also regarding compatible.asm where will I check those what I have printed is correct.

Validate the above and reply back to me ASAP
