DB-Link to SQL-Server with Windows authentication.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

we are trying to connect from Oracle 11g to an MS-SQLServer using ODBC.

The SQL-Server is configured with Windows NT authentication only (can not be changed).

The ODBC-Connection works,

All Oracle Parameters are set (listener, tnsname, hs-ini-file).

The database link brings the error message:

ORA-01017 – invalid username/password; logon denied

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]

Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. {28000,NativeErr = 18452}

I can not find any Information about DB-Link with Windows authentication.

Is it possible in principle?

If yes, what do we have to do?

Is there a description for this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Manfred, and welcome to the forum!

Linking from Oracle to MSSQL can be done, see my notes here:

First, verify that the link is okay via sqlplus:

Select * from mytab@mylink;

The Ora-01017, this is a common error, see solution here:

Good luck!
